Did you know that OKC has one of the largest Vietnamese populations in the U.S.? Vietnam’s loss in the late 1970s in the form of emigrants escaping religious and political persecution was Oklahoma City’s gain and paved the way for the emergence of OKC’s Asian District, centered along NW 23rd between Classen Bouelvard and Western Avenue. Today, they join Chinese and other Asian American cultures in what is a true multicultural experience right in the middle of Oklahoma City. Tokyo-style sushi? Got it. Taiwanese bubble tea? Check. Hong Kong-style dim sum? Get some. Vietnamese noodle soup? Pho yeah! Curry favor with the god of curry, and don’t forget to thank General Tso for being such a warrior against rebellion and tastelessness – all available for your gastronomic pleasure here in the Asian District. Besides restaurants, there are plenty of shops, nightclubs, grocery stores (see below) and more to explore right here in your hometown. Check out the Asian District!
