Providing excellence in education
The Greater Oklahoma City region is always looking to the future for how it can make improvements on the quality of life for its residents. One key aspect of this is continued investments in its education systems. Quality, commitment, accountability and choice are a few of the words that reflect Oklahoma City’s dedication to the future of its children.
No matter if you prefer public, charter or private education, Oklahoma City offers some of the best schools in the country. In fact, five high schools in the Oklahoma City school district received gold or silver badge awards in the most recent U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools ranking. In total, 11 of the top 15 schools in Oklahoma are located in the metro area, making excellence in learning more accessible than ever.
Almost two decades ago, Oklahoma City voters approved MAPS for Kids, a comprehensive education reform plan that raised $700 million for Oklahoma City Public Schools and dozens of surrounding school districts. The program renovated or rebuilt more than 70 schools. OKCPS has also received a recent school bond investment and is embarking on its Pathway to Greatness plan, a reorganization of its resources so that every school in the district has more access to STEM-education resources, arts and physical education and community health resources.
The ongoing investments in our children have paid off: Oklahoma schools have received national recognition for alternative education, early childhood accessibility and the increasing number of teachers earning National Board Certification - the profession's top credential.
