Pickleball at Scissortail Park

Pickleball is everywhere, and if you’ve been curious but aren’t sure how to get in, here’s your chance. At Scissortail Park, the USA Pickleball Association hosts free classes every other Tuesday (through October) on the Lower Park courts sponsored by E.L. and Thelma Gaylord. Spaces are limited to 32 per session, so be sure to register for the Aug. 26 class if you want in.
First Friday at Paseo Arts District
Friday, Aug. 29 | 6–9 p.m. | Free
The historic Paseo Arts District is OKC’s creative core, with over 80 artists and more than 25 businesses and galleries all within walking distance. First Friday features opening receptions showcasing new work from gallery and studio folks and guest artists. The event is free (rain or shine), there’s ample parking in the neighborhood and leashed pets are always welcome.
Wheeler District Labor Day Festival
Saturday, Aug. 30 | 11 a.m.–3 p.m. | Free
Looking for an easy way to stretch out your long weekend? Head to the Wheeler Ferris Wheel for a laid-back Labor Day party. There’ll be live music, food trucks, face painting for the kids (or kids at heart) and plenty of space to kick back, just bring a blanket or lawn chair. Bonus: the first 100 people will get a free Ferris Wheel ride!
