A thriving city doesn’t happen by accident, it takes the hard work of leaders at every level of government. At The Better Life, we believe in helping Oklahomans stay informed about the people shaping our communities. Below is a quick look at some of the key elected officials representing Oklahoma City at the state, county and local levels.
State of Oklahoma
Governor Kevin Stitt
Oklahoma’s 38th governor, Kevin Stitt, is currently serving his second and final term, which ends in April 2026. First elected in 2018, Stitt has focused on making Oklahoma a “top 10 state” for business, job growth and education.
Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell
Matt Pinnell has served as Oklahoma’s 17th lieutenant governor since 2018. In addition to his role as President of the Oklahoma Senate, he also chairs the Oklahoma Tourism Commission and the Route 66 Centennial Commission. His priorities include workforce and economic development statewide.
City of Oklahoma City
Mayor David Holt
Now in his second term, Mayor David Holt has led Oklahoma City since 2018. His administration has prioritized MAPS 4 initiatives, transportation upgrades and improving quality of life across the metro. He also serves as Dean of the Oklahoma City University School of Law.
City Manager Craig Freeman
A longtime public servant, Craig Freeman has worked for the City of Oklahoma City for more than 30 years and became city manager in 2018. He oversees daily operations, a $900 million budget and more than 5,000 employees. Freeman helped lead the city through the COVID-19 pandemic, the launch of MAPS 4 and the distribution of ARPA funding.
Oklahoma City Council
The OKC City Council is made up of eight members, each representing a ward within the city. Council members vote on policies, ordinances and city budget items.

Oklahoma County
County Commissioners
Oklahoma County is divided into three districts, each represented by a commissioner. These officials are responsible for county infrastructure, real estate, emergency services and the auditing office accounts.
