The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber is hosting a busy lineup of summer events aimed at informing and engaging the community on issues shaping the city’s future. From major civic updates to education-focused discussions, these gatherings bring together leaders from across sectors to explore what’s next for the city. With the State of the City in July and State of the Schools in August, the Chamber is setting the stage for an active and impactful season — with more events still to come.
State of the City
The Chamber will host its annual State of the City luncheon Wednesday, July 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the OKC Convention Center, 100 Mick Cornett Drive.
More than 1,400 business and civic leaders are expected to attend as Mayor David Holt delivers his seventh State of the City address. Holt, first elected as Oklahoma City’s 38th mayor in 2018 and reelected in 2022, will share updates on the city’s growth, challenges, and priorities for the future.
Topics will include progress on major city projects such as MAPS 4, the $1.1 billion initiative covering 16 community priorities, and the new downtown arena tied to a 30-year agreement with the OKC Thunder. The address will also touch on the city’s role in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where OKC will stage softball and canoe slalom competitions.
The Chamber will also provide updates on its key initiatives supporting the local economy, including Forward OKC VII, the FAME OKC workforce program, and ongoing growth in the bioscience sector through Life Science Oklahoma. Attendees will hear about the city’s tourism economy, which now generates $2.6 billion annually.
Tickets are $125 for members and $150 for nonmembers. Registration closes July 11.
Thank you to the OKC Thunder, the presenting sponsor of the event.
State of the Schools
The Chamber will host its annual State of the Schools event Wednesday, Aug. 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, 1700 NE 63rd St.
The event will bring together local educators, business leaders and policymakers to discuss strategies for improving public education across the metro. The program will feature updates on current initiatives, highlight classroom innovation, and explore how OKC can set the pace for urban school systems nationwide.
Speakers will address topics such as education policy, student outcomes, and workforce readiness, with a focus on collaboration between schools and the broader community.
Tickets are $75 for Chamber members and $100 for nonmembers. Registration closes Aug. 1.
