Myriad Botanical Gardens has unveiled "Wings & Wildflowers: A Celebration of Native Pollinators," the first art exhibit in Oklahoma dedicated to the state's pollinators. This unique showcase, featuring works by 17 local artists, is now open through August 8 at the Crystal Bridge Art Gallery.
Extending beyond the gallery walls, outdoor banners displaying the artwork are exhibited throughout Myriad Botanical Gardens and Scissortail Park, with this portion running until November 1.
Each artist has contributed two pieces: one depicting a native pollinator and another illustrating the flowers these pollinators help thrive. The exhibit aims to highlight the critical role of pollinators and raise awareness about their declining populations due to habitat loss, pesticide use and disease.
An artists’ reception is scheduled for Saturday, June 22, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Crystal Bridge Art Gallery. This event is free and open to the public, offering a unique opportunity to meet the artists and celebrate their work. Notable artists include Gina Alusi from Tulsa, Gray Carter from Norman, Kris Kanaly from Oklahoma City, and Jessica Harjo from Owasso, showcasing the diverse talent across various Oklahoma cities.
The Crystal Bridge Art Gallery, located in the Visitors Lobby of the Inasmuch Foundation Crystal Bridge Conservatory, is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This exhibit not only showcases the beauty of Oklahoma's native pollinators and flora but also emphasizes the importance of conservation efforts to protect these vital species.
