Paws and presents: Local spots to buy unique gifts for pets

The holiday season is a time of joy, love, and giving, and for many families, that includes the four-legged members too. Pet owners around the world indulge in the festive spirit by showering their furry friends with Christmas gifts. From toys that squeak with holiday cheer to cozy beds that rival Santa's workshop, there's a wide array of options to make your pets feel extra special during this magical time.

Here are a few local shops where you can find extra special items for fur babies.

• Plenty Mercantile — A must-visit store for anyone in or visiting Oklahoma City, Plenty offers a wide selection of gifts.
  
  Take a walk around the store and pick up a modern tin treat container to store all the new holiday treats, a new collar and leash, a dog or cat bed, or a fresh toy. Plenty Mercantile also offers a great selection of bath supplies, food and water bowls, and bandanas.
  
  Plenty Mercantile offers two locations, Automobile Alley and one inside the First National Hotel Center Hotel, with a location inside Will Rogers Airport coming soon. Their online store is always open for shopping at your convenience. Their hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 12-4 p.m. on Sunday.
  
  
• Midtown Holiday Pop-up Shops — The Midtown holiday pop-up shops are here for a limited time but are sure to offer something for our furry friends. Open Fridays through Sundays until December 17, you are sure to find something special. Check the pop-up schedule to find out which shops are participating each weekend.
  
  At the pop-up shops, small businesses are set up in Midtown with a smaller selection of their products. If you can’t find what you need in the pop-up shop, you may be able to get it in the brick-and-mortar location or buy it online.
  
  
• Resonate Gifts — Located in Moore, offers a small but unique selection of gifts. Pickup a grooming set, bacon-scented flying disc toy, or a dog treat selfie clip to help capture a special moment. Resonate also offers custom engraving, Oklahoma-themed gifts, gift boxes and more.

• Black Scintilla — An eclectic boutique operating in Midtown since 2015, has a wide selection of cat and dog treats, toys and bandanas. They also offer clothes, gifts, home décor and self-care items.
  
  
• Johnny & June — Located at 20 NW Ninth St. in OKC, offers nutritious and tasty dog and cat treats and select dog shampoo. The store also has a wide selection of accessories, self-care items, toys and home goods.
