Do you think you sound good singing in the shower or maybe even prefer belting out tunes in front of a mirror with a hairbrush, pretending to be one of your favorite singers? Then perhaps it’s time to test your vocal chops in front of a live audience at one of Oklahoma City’s karaoke hot spots.
If you are already a “professional” karaoke singer, then you probably already know about some of these places, if not most of them. If you just recently moved here, or you are a karaoke novice, and just want to have some fun with friends and family, OKC has several karaoke bars and other venues scattered throughout the city.
Arguably, one of the best places to start is Cookie’s on Western, which boasts on its website as being the only true full-time karaoke bar in Oklahoma City. Located at 2304 N. Western Ave., Cookie’s has been a staple in OKC since 1995 and offers karaoke seven days a week from 8:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Some other great spots in OKC to belt out your favorite karaoke tunes are (in alphabetical order):
- Bar Next Door, 315 NW 23rd St., Karaoke Nights, Tuesday & Thursdays.
- Don Quixote’s Karaoke Sports Bar & Grill, 3030 N. Portland Ave., karaoke Monday-Sunday.
- Hideaway Lounge, 4418 NW 39th St., karaoke Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
- Kat’s Tavern, 901 NW 64th St. karaoke beginning at 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
- Michael Murphy’s Dueling Pianos, 119 E. California, Rockstar Karaoke Bar, Thursday-Saturday.
- Mooney’s Pub & Grill, 6221 N. Interstate Drive, Norman, OK, karaoke Wednesday and Thursday.
- Moonlight KTV, 54 E. 15th St., Edmond, OK, karaoke beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday-Sunday.
With part of its name sounding like a slang word that describes someone from the Sooner State, it’s no wonder participating in karaoke in Oklahoma City is such a fun experience!
