Spring is alive and well in Oklahoma, and that means a few things: You’re sneezing, I’m sneezing, and festival season is here.
May and June are prime festival times throughout the state, and there are many festivals to discover and enjoy by traveling a little bit outside of the Oklahoma City metro. Here are three festivals to check out this spring:
Prague Kolache Festival, May 6, Prague
Quick question: Where can you go to smother yourself in kolaches, beer and polka music? The Prague Kolache Festival, of course.
More than 50,000 kolaches are said to be consumed every year by festivalgoers as they celebrate Czech heritage and the founding of the town.
Folk dancers, parades, live music and more round out the event held on the town’s Main Street.

Stilwell Strawberry Festival, May 13, Stilwell
It seems people really love their strawberries because, what began in the 1940s to promote the town’s primary crop, has exploded to see annual attendance reach 30,000-plus.
Obviously, all things strawberries are at the center of the festivities held in downtown Stilwell, but other entertainment staples like vendor booths, carnival rides and floats are also featured.
And, Oklahoma royalty isn’t just for folks with the last name Stoops or Underwood — a Strawberry Queen is crowned at the Stilwell Strawberry Festival.

Muscogee Nation Festival, June 22-25, Okmulgee
Celebrating Muscogee culture is what it’s about at the annual Muscogee Nation Festival.
The festival, held at the Claude Cox Omniplex in Okmulgee, is entering its 41st year and has grown to become a weekend-long family friendly event that includes cultural exhibitions, live music, arts and crafts, a parade and a plethora of food.
