Oklahoma City has a variety of transportation options such as the streetcar, EMBARK bus system and electric scooters scattered across its core. One of the city’s most versatile options for navigating its neighborhoods, however, is its bicycle rental service, Spokies.
As the city’s sole bike-share program, Spokies offers 60 pedal bikes and 53 electric bikes to visitors and locals alike. Through the Spokies app, renters can locate bikes and bike racks, and buy passes. E-bikes will assist peddlers up to 17 mph, allowing their legs to rest and recharge.
Annual, monthly and day passes are available for renters. Bikes can be returned to various locations found in the app.
The bike share program was implemented in 2012 with assistance from an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block grant by the city’s Office of Sustainability. More than 10 years later, the system continues to solidify its success.
