With all the new life springing to life this time of year, it may inspire you to purge the old to make way for the new, and what better way to get rid of those unused items than with a garage sale. Before advertising for your grand sale, you’ll want to visit the City of Oklahoma City’s page to secure a permit.
Residents within the city limits are required to purchase the $7 permit or face a possible $200 fine. It’s easy to do via their website and it will also provide savvy shoppers with the details of your sale on a map at the bottom of the page. The page also provides you with rules and guidelines to follow, such as what time of day you can be open, where you can place signs and what you’re allowed to sell.
Don’t forget to check with your homeowners’ association to see if there are any additional guidelines you need to follow.
The permit is valid for three days so you will have time to get your treasures into new hands. But if you still have items left over at the end, you can always connect with our friends at Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma who are ready to collect your goods, with several drop-off locations around the metro.
