Still trying to figure out the perfect gift for your family? Have you thought about a new furry friend? Nothing lights up the face of a kid (and even most adults) like getting a new dog or cat.
Cats and dogs can be adopted for just $60 (and at an even lower price in some situations), and all adoptable animals at Oklahoma City Animal Welfare are up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, treated for worms and spayed or neutered. You can even get a gift certificate for adoption for someone else you might know who needs a new friend for the Holidays.

If a dog catches your eye and goes home with you, be sure to get a leash for it. Per the ordinance, every dog in Oklahoma City must be confined on your property or a leash. Dog parks are a limited exception, and there are a few around the city. Dogs allowed to run free – especially at city parks – can be a threat to children or other dogs. Yes, your little Fido is sweet and friendly to everyone, but you never know how another dog might react or if an unfamiliar environment can cause your furry best friend to act differently. There’s more information about leashing your dog on the city’s website or you can click this link.
