The Plaza Walls provides a new perspective on street art. The rotating mural project in Oklahoma City’s Plaza District allows artists to constantly reinvent the alleyway in which it’s located.
The project is a product of The Oklahoma Mural Syndicate, an arts advocacy group that focuses on the creation of public art throughout the state.
Since its inception in 2015, the project has helped produce around 100 murals by artists from across the country. The J-shaped alleyway can be accessed through an entrance on the district’s main street, NW 16th St., or an opposing entrance on Indiana Ave. on the district’s west side.
In the age of Instagram, Plaza Walls is a standout location for anyone looking to take a selfie in front of an artistic background. The mural project is sure to have been an essential element in Oklahoma City being awarded the Best City for Street Art by USA Today in 2021 and 2022.
