Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma is the state’s leading professional theatre company, bringing Broadway-quality productions and performances to Oklahoma audiences.
The nonprofit theatre presents shows at two separate locations, the smaller Plaza Theatre and larger Civic Center Music Hall.
Productions like “The Rocky Horror Show,” “Lyric’s A CHRISTMAS CAROL” and “BIG RIVER: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” are scheduled to be presented next by the theatre. The nationally recognized organization was formed in 1963 and has built a reputation as an acclaimed artistic attraction. USA Today named the theatre as one of the “10 Great Places to See the Lights Off-Broadway.”
Today, the theatre continues to provide the community with Broadway-caliber performances, along with an academy aimed at helping the next generation of performers.
The Thelma Gaylord Academy is intended to provide educational opportunities in a safe and exciting environment for Oklahoma City’s young performers. The Academy operates out of a building just west of the Plaza Theatre in the city’s Plaza District.
