Now that Oklahoma City is ranked as the 20th largest city in the nation according to the 2020 census, having a premier and efficient public transportation system is more important than ever. As Oklahoma City’s population increases, so does the need for more routes and more buses to satisfy the demand from a growing population.
EMBARK, Oklahoma City’s transportation and parking authority and one of North America’s Outstanding Public Transit System award winners, is responsible for providing a diverse family of services for Oklahoma City and its residents, including bus service that runs throughout Oklahoma City and a dedicated route between OKC and Norman. Bus service typically runs from 5:30 a.m. to midnight on the weekdays and from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the weekends. To check complete bus schedules and the times for your specific route(s), please visit EMBARK’s website at embarkok.com.
In these days of higher costs for just about anything, one thing that is still affordable are EMBARK’s fares for all its transportation options. Single-trip bus fares start at $1.75 for adults, while children 6 years old and under ride free. Reduced rates are also available for certain individuals, including senior adults 65 and older and persons with a qualifying disability. To save even more money, Universal unlimited passes are available that can be good for one day, seven days or 30 days. Check out EMBARK’s website for more information on these and other fares.
To help make your ride more enjoyable and productive, buses are equipped with free Wi-Fi service, which supports general web browsing activities. Streaming music or video or downloading very large files are not supported by the free Wi-Fi service, however.
