If we have said it once, we have said it a thousand times. Events put on by the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber are a fantastic way to get involved in the OKC community. You can learn about important topics facing our community while also meeting new people. Here is what is on tap for August:
- State of the Schools - Aug. 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. The annual State of the Schools event is one of the biggest events the Chamber puts on each year and is an amazing opportunity to learn more about education in Oklahoma City, from pre-k through higher education.
This year’s featured speakers are Chancellor Allison D. Garrett, chief executive officer for the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education and Dr. Sean McDaniel, superintendent of schools for Oklahoma City Public Schools.
The event will also include a panel with Superintendent Sean McDaniel along with Dr. Rick Cobb, superintendent of Mid-Del Public Schools, Dr. Angela Grunewald, superintendent of Edmond Public Schools and Dr. Robert Romines, superintendent of Moore Public Schools. The panel will focus on what is needed to help all students reach their potential, how Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds will be utilized, and how their districts are working to improve the mental health of their students, teachers and staff.
- Chamber Forum - Aug. 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Vast. There is no better way to learn about Oklahoma City than by attending the monthly Chamber Forum. Each month, experts discuss critical issues facing the community. The August Chamber Forum will focus on the recovery of OKC’s visitors’ economy.
