The Oklahoma heat might not have you thinking about spending too much time in the outdoors, but once cooler temperatures arrive, a great way to experience our city is by renting a Spokies bike.
Spokies is Oklahoma City’s bike share service with a fleet of 113 bikes, 60 pedal-only and 53 electric assist. Located all over downtown and along the river, you can easily rent one and explore the area. The best place to start is by downloading the Spokies app and set up an account so you can easily locate and rent your bike. Next, decide whether you want a pedal-only or e-bike. The e-bike has a motor that gives you an extra push as you pedal and can get up to a speed of 17 mph.
Spokies also offers a day, monthly or annual pass which gives you a better rate and is great if you plan to use the bikes regularly. Otherwise, you can rent the bikes by the hour starting at $1.00 to unlock the bike, then $0.15 per minute for an e-bike and $0.12 per minute for a pedal-only bike.
After successfully renting your bike, now it’s time to ride! Don’t forget to follow the rules of the rode. Spokies’ website has some great tips which will help you stay safe as you ride.
Once you’ve reached you’ve finished your ride, you can secure your bike to any bike rack in the service area. Make sure you’re within that area, otherwise you will be charged an additional fee. After finding a bike rack, you just need to lock the bike with the provided cable and snap a picture in the app to confirm you returned it. So simple and a great way to explore all that’s happening in OKC!
