If you like to water your lawn, you’ll need to watch it. Progressive Water Conservation Stages have been implemented in Oklahoma City, with the first stage now permanently in effect.
Now, watering your lawn must be kept on schedule: odd-numbered homes water on odd-numbered dates, and even-numbered homes water on even-numbered dates.
Depending on drought effects to the area, further measures may be taken, but are not required at the moment.
Phase two limits lawn watering to two days per week:
- Single-family residents with an odd-numbered address water on Saturdays and Wednesdays.
- Single-family residents with an even-numbered address water on Sundays and Thursdays.
- All others including, multi-family and commercial units, water on Tuesdays and Fridays.
If a third phase is needed:
- Single-family addresses ending in 1 or 3 water on Saturdays.
- Single-family addresses ending in 5, 7, or 9 water on Wednesdays.
- Single-family addresses ending in 0 or 2 water on Sundays.
- Single-family addresses ending in 4, 6, or 8 water on Thursdays.
- Multi-family units and homeowner associations water on Tuesdays.
- Commercial and government properties water on Fridays.
Further drought would determine that only hand-watering gardens, and commercial car washes with water recycling operations be allowed. The final, fifth-level drought would ban all outdoor watering and vehicle washing.
Be sure to keep an eye on how the city is being watered, and how to keep on schedule – even in odd circumstances.
