Art has long been synonymous with spring and Oklahoma City. Spring in OKC must be one of the most attractive times we have within the calendar year with lots to check out and do. Aside from planning upcoming vacations and family outings, it’s good to know there are exciting things to do at home in Oklahoma City, particularly when it involves checking out the arts! Here at The Better Life, we take our responsibility of finding all things fun, innovative and creative in OKC close to heart. While the Festival of the Arts downtown just ended, the timing still couldn’t be any better – let’s look at what’s in store!
Paseo Arts Festival –
The 45th Annual Paseo Arts Festival kicks off on Memorial Day weekend, May 28-30. With live music, performing arts, youth activities and a wide array of food options, there’s something for everyone to come together and celebrate the arts. Our very own Nate Fisher, director of communications, had the privilege to chat with Paseo Arts and Creativity Center Executive Director Amanda Bleakley and Paseo Pottery’s Collin Rosebrook about the event. In case you missed it, the article and video podcast interview are recommended. Come meet and see featured works from some of the most acclaimed local and national artists!
Oklahoma City Museum of Art (OKCMOA) –
As the Oklahoma City Museum of Art winds down another successful Museum Films campaign in April 2022, one film remains on schedule: Memoria – winner of the Jury Prize at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. The award-winning film will be shown April 29 – May 1. The Perfect Shot exhibition tour continues in OKC on Saturday, April 30, showcasing iconic sports photography from none other than world-renowned photographer Walter Iooss Jr. We also want to mention the Making Memories Program, a signature OKCMOA program for individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Events with Allied Arts –
The countless work and dedication from our friends at Allied Arts to promote arts in our city should not go unnoticed. Their events webpage highlights the latest, upcoming event scheduled during the year. Currently, Andrea Bocelli will be in OKC in concert this summer on Thursday, June 23. The Art Around OKC website is part of an initiative started by Allied Arts to list events and activities happening in the city that involves the entire spectrum of arts. Find something that will spark your interests and take advantage of the resources provided by Allied Arts to continue supporting our community.

Art in OKC
Bold, experimental, collaborative and fearless, our modern-day artists are very much in the tradition of the early settlers of our city, and the indigenous peoples who have called Oklahoma home for centuries before that.
