2022 Quarter Horse racing season now underway at Remington Park & Casino

For many years now, Oklahoma City has been known unofficially as the “Horse Show Capital of the World.” It should come as no surprise then that horse racing is a popular sport in OKC, especially for those who love the thrill and rush of pounding hooves coming down the stretch toward the finish line, waiting to see if the horse they bet on to win makes it across the finish line first.

If you have never gotten to experience the exhilaration of watching a live horse racing event, or if horse racing is something you partake in regularly, you can experience all that and more at Remington Park & Casino in Oklahoma City. Live Quarter Horse racing runs Thursday through Sunday, March 3 through May 28, except Easter Sunday, April 17. Races begin at 6 p.m., except Sundays when the horses sprint from the starting gate at 4 p.m.

Remington Park has several special race days planned during the 2022 Quarter Horse racing season, including the Remington Park Futurity April 16, when jockeys and their mounts will be competing for purses totaling nearly $1 million, and Champions Night May 28 (the first race begins at 5 p.m.). Or how about mixing in some zaniness to the racing day by attending fan-favorite Extreme Racing on Sunday, April 24?

Extreme Racing 2022 features jockeys riding exotic animals such as zebras, ostriches and camels on the main track between normal horse races. This charitable event helps raise money for Remington Park’s charity partners. The Express Ranch Clydesdales will also race that afternoon, while the Flying Pig Races will take place in the evening on their own track located just north of the Plaza.
