To say it is a special month for live music in OKC would be a bit of an understatement. Concerts this month include performances by legends such as Bob Dylan and acclaimed indie acts Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and Waxahatchee. Oklahoma City’s newest concert venue, Beer City Music Hall, will also open its doors for the first time.
- Eli Young Band - April 2 at Beer City Music Hall; Eli Young Band has remained a mainstay for decades, impacting the country charts an unprecedented 15 times and racking up a multitude of Grammy, CMA and ACM nominations along the way.
- Tech N9ne - April 8 at the Tower Theatre; Tech N9ne is an American rapper and singer. He has sold over two million albums and has had his music featured in film, television and video games. In 2009, he won the Left Field Woodie award at the mtvU Woodie Awards.
- Bob Dylan - April 14 at the Civic Center; Dylan is often regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time in a career that has spanned more than 60 years. Dylan has sold more than 125 million records and has won more awards and been inducted into more hall of fames than we can list here.
- Waxahatchee - April 19 at the Jones Assembly; Waxahatchee is an indie music project formed by singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield and has released five studio albums to widespread acclaim.
- Lucinda Williams - April 23 at the Auditorium at Douglass; Williams is a critically acclaimed rock, folk and country songwriter who has won multiple Grammys.
- Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - April 23 at the Criterion; Nathaniel David Rateliff is an American singer and songwriter whose influences are described as folk, Americana and vintage rhythm & blues. Rateliff has garnered attention with Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, the soulful R&B combo he formed in 2013.
- Jerry Cantrell - April 25 at the Diamond Ballroom; Jerry Cantrell is a rock legend best known as the founder, lead guitarist, vocalist and song writer for Alice and Chains. Cantrell has earned nine Grammy nominations.
- Death Cab for Cutie - April 27 at the Criterion; Death Cab for Cutie is an American alternative rock band formed in Bellingham, Wash., in 1997. Death Cab for Cutie rose to becoming one of the most exciting groups on the indie rock scene of the 2000s, with their emotive songwriting and cross-genre sound landing somewhere between indie and emo. They have been nominated for eight Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Album for their most recent release, 2015’s Kintsugi.
