Summer is just around the corner. When the kids yell “SCHOOL’S OUT,” do you have a plan to keep them engaged and entertained? Summer camps in the OKC metro are plentiful, but they fill up quickly.
Make sure you reserve your spot before you’re on your own to create activities and enjoyment for your youngsters all summer long. Here are some ideas for where to get started with your summer camp planning.
Western Explorers Summer Camp at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum
Western Explorers Summer Camp offers children ages 6 – 10 opportunities to learn, play and create at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Led by Museum educators, each four-day, small group session features age-appropriate themes, crafts, games, art projects and stories. Campers explore the Museum’s collections, exhibitions, gardens and trails to inspire their imaginations and provide the foundation for fun-filled, creative self-expression. All supplies are included in the children’s sessions. Space is limited.
Camp DaKaNi at Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma
For over 60 years, Camp DaKaNi has served Oklahoma City as the only full-service youth camp in the heart of our metro. Translated to "a day in the out-of-doors," Camp DaKaNi invites kids of all ages to unplug, unwind, and make friends during an exciting week of outdoor activities like the rock wall, zip line, archery, and Gaga Ball.
Camp DaKaNi allows kids to experience the wonder, challenges, and self-discovery that can only be found outdoors! Each camper will be challenged in new ways in a nurturing, encouraging environment to build self-worth, confidence, and communication skills within their own peer group.
Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma Camps - E-Ko-Wah and Trivera

Among the fun activities are horseback riding, canoeing, paddleboarding, archery, low ropes courses, singing, crafting, STEM, and more. This resident overnight camp, E-Ko-Wah, is offered to all girls in 1st - 12th grades. Campers are picked up in Oklahoma City or parents can drop campers off themselves. Scholarships are available.
CAMPlify your summer at a week-long Trivera day camp offering a new adventure every day. Enjoy a summer of ziplining, rock climbing, canoeing, swimming and even mural painting! Various themes meet the interests of all girls and teach skills to last a lifetime. You’ll discover how fun it is to build robots, make slime, swim with friends and experience new things.
RIVERSPORT Summer Camps
RIVERSPORT camps are a great way for kids to take a break from the ordinary and try something new! Week-long day camps are available in the Boathouse District, Lake Hefner, and Lake Overholser, each offering a unique experience. Novice camps introduce kids to rowing, paddling, or sailing, and many have added Adventure activities like surfing, zip-lining, the SandRidge Sky Trail, and RIVERSPORT Rapids whitewater center. You can even add a half-day eSports camp to a RIVERSPORT camp for a full day fun!
