The way a lot of people experience cities these days is by paying a visit to a cultural or commercial district or two. These areas of town are generally defined by not only geography but also a certain character or je ne sais quoi, if you will, that results in an attraction from visitors and residents alike. Accordingly, Oklahoma City certainly has its share of districts.
Places like the Plaza District, Paseo Arts District, the Asian District, the Boathouse District, the Adventure District and more even have “district” in their name! But there’s also Bricktown, Midtown, Stockyards City, Western Avenue and more. To get caught up on all the latest district lowdown, we’ve got a couple of options for you. First, you can get basic info, location and other details by checking out the links provided by our buddies at VisitOKC at https://www.visitokc.com/about-okc/okc-districts/.
Want some more in-depth info on the history, character, retail/restaurant/entertainment/housing options and what the future holds for some of our districts? You can also check out a number of more in-depth profiles we created for our Stand Tall, Shop Small for OKC campaign over at VeloCityOKC.com (check out the links in the sidebar). And no, while OKC doesn’t have anything as quite as cool as, say, a Sodosopa, we can definitely offer areas that are decidedly much more authentic and fun, so read up and check them out!
