The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber hosts more than 70 events throughout the year, and they are starting the year strong with two must-attend events that will cover important issues to the Oklahoma City region.
The first is the January Chamber Forum, part of the Chamber’s monthly event series that brings thought leaders together to discuss major initiatives, programs and current issues that impact Oklahoma City's business climate, economy and community.
The average inmate population at the Oklahoma County Jail has stayed at or below 1,700 people for well over two years, a downward trend after nearly two decades of populations being well above 2,000. A large reason for the sustained decline are the diversion programs that provide alternatives to formal sentencing. At the January Chamber Forum on Wednesday, Jan. 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., attendees will hear from representatives of diversion programs on the work they do within the justice system and how diversion helps low-level, nonviolent offenders return to productive lives within our community. On Wednesday, Jan. 26, the Chamber will host its popular Legislative Kickoff breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m. This annual event offers the perfect opportunity for Chamber members to hear from area legislators and make their voices heard on issues impacting the business community. A panel of Republican and Democratic leadership will discuss issues that affect local businesses, including Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat, Senate Democratic Leader Kay Floyd, House Majority Floor Leader Jon Echols and House Democratic Minority Caucus Chair Cyndi Munson.
