We are just a week away from putting the final bow on the year that was 2021. It was a year to remember in more ways than one, and there is no better place to welcome in 2022 than the annual Opening Night New Year’s Eve Celebration in downtown Oklahoma City.
Opening Night has been OKC’s premier New Year’s Eve celebration since 1987, and this year’s event will be a little different than the rest. Typically, the music, food and fun of Opening Night is spread throughout downtown, but this year everything will be taking place at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. That is right, everything is in one easy location.
Wristbands for the event cost $18 in advance, and this year’s live entertainment includes music, a mural competition and more. This is also a great event for families as there is a children’s area with hands-on art projects.
Of course, the star of the show is the ball dropping at midnight. This year’s finale will feature a fireworks extravaganza with pyrotechnics and music. The finale will start 20 minutes before midnight with music from Adam and Kizzie.
If you are feeling adventurous, don’t forget about the annual Finale 5K that will start at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31.
You can purchase your wristbands at area 7-11 stores or online.
