Oh, the weather outside is potentially frightful, yet Downtown in December will surely be delightful. Since we’ve got so many events to know, here you go, here you go, here you go!
Okay, all jokes and jingles aside, Oklahoma City has plenty of opportunities to enjoy the holiday season from ice skating, sledding, caroling, and more, you can enjoy and celebrate the entire month of December with everything that’s in store.
This series of holiday events has been organized for the 20th year in a row! Thanks to the work of Downtown OKC partnership and support of Devon Energy, the Downtown Business Improvement District, and several other corporate sponsors and partners our city has the ability to make the holidays especially memorable.
Here’s a list of several events that you’ll want to check out this season.
ArtAfloatOKC Showboat Caroling Cruises
Every Friday in December, all ages are welcome to choose from three showtimes available at 7 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9 p.m. Join holiday carolers live on a boat for an ArtAfloatOKC Showboat Caroling Cruises performance presented by Heartland.
You’ll meet your crew at Put a Cork In It Winery for warm beverages then hop aboard the newly-muralized Bricktown Water Taxis to listen to holiday songs sung by local carolers. Each round trip along the canal is estimated to take 45 minutes.

A Dog Day in December
Bring the pups and enjoy a pet-friendly A Dog Day in December holiday party on Thursday, Dec. 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Midtown Mutts Dog Park.
There will be photos with Santa printed on site for $10 each, complimentary “puppuccinos” and a festive atmosphere filled with furry friends.
This event is FREE to attend, but you can register for an Early Bird ticket for $20 and skip the line for your photo with Santa! Early bird entrance begins at 5 p.m. and there are only 30 spots available.
Holiday Events at the Skirvin Hilton
As downtown comes to life this holiday season, The Skirvin Hilton is once again leading the way with a calendar full of festive events, meals, and attractions that you’ll love sharing with your family and friends.
The Skirvin Hilton’s magical ambiance is the perfect backdrop for creating new traditions while honoring the old. Events such as Holiday High Tea, a Thanksgiving feast, Christmas caroling in the Red Piano Lounge, breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and a Christmas Eve Supper are sure to make your holiday gathering unforgettable.

Lights on Broadway
Cruise down historic Automobile Alley for the district’s holiday open house and experience its stunning light display during the 6th annual Lights On Broadway event! The fun returns in 2021 for four Saturdays this season: Nov. 20 and 27 and Dec. 4 and 11.
Each Saturday from 4-7 p.m., various retail shops and restaurants will feature buzz-worthy window displays, in addition to pop-up activities, special promotionsand giveaways. Attendees will enjoy family-friendly programming along the sidewalks such as live music, balloon art, performances, photos with Santa Claus, and more.
Lights On Broadway is sponsored by RCB Bank, Heartland, and OG&E. Snow Globe Santa is presented by Mason Realty Investors.
Lyric’s A Christmas Carol
Closing out the year, Oklahoma’s favorite holiday tradition, Lyric’s “A Christmas Carol,” returns for its 11th year – Nov. 17 to Dec. 23. In Charles Dickens’ timeless tale, three magical ghosts whisk the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge away on an unforgettable adventure of transformation and redemption. Jacob Marley, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, The Fezziwigs and a host of unforgettable characters spring to life in Lyric’s spectacular production sparking the holiday spirit in audiences of all ages. You’ll go from humbug to happy in one magical night under the stars, as featured in The New York Times and BBC News. Co-directed by Lyric’s Producing Artistic Director Michael Baron and Associate Artistic Director Ashley Wells, the immersive production returns for its second year at the historic Harn Homestead.

OKC Ballet’s performances of The Nutcracker
Oklahoma City Ballet will stage its holiday performances of “The Nutcracker” presented by Devon Energy at Civic Center Music Hall, Dec. 11-19 for an eight-show performance run. This beloved holiday classic choreographed by Artistic Director Robert Mills stays true to the original libretto that premiered in 1892 at the Marinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. OKCPHIL will perform Tchaikovsky’s familiar score live at every performance, and new this year, Canterbury Voices will provide vocals during the iconic snowflake scene.
Single tickets start at $30 and are available now through Oklahoma City Ballet and Civic Center Box offices. They are also available online at www.okcballet.org. Guests can purchase separate tickets to the family-friendly fundraising event, “The Nutcracker Tea in the Kingdom of Sweets,” which will be held in the Meinders Hall of Mirrors at the Civic Center Music Hall on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 4. to 6 p.m. Tickets to “The Nutcracker Tea” are $50.
Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s (Joy to the) World of Wong Kar-Wai
This year, OKCMOA’s Museum Films invites you to spend the holiday season wrapped up in the lush visuals, sensuous soundtracks and soulful romanticism of art-house maestro Wong Kar-wai. Whether tragically lovelorn, soaked in blood or quirkily comedic, each film in this retrospective series is an invitation into the unique and wistful world of a deeply influential artist.
Featuring new 4K restorations of In the Mood for Love, Chungking Express, and Happy Together, alongside other modern classics and rarely seen gems, (Joy to the) World of Wong Kar-wai screens Dec. 17-26 in OKCMOA’s Noble Theater.

Saint’s Santa Run
Each year, this family-friendly holiday run brings all ages, and even pets, to downtown Oklahoma City for a festive 5K. The Santa Run went virtual in 2020 but will be in-person this year with a new route and new start/finish located at SSM Health – St. Anthony in Midtown.
Participate in the 5k run/walk or 1-mile fun run and receive a commemorative Saints Santa Run t-shirt and finisher medal, and enjoy family-friendly activities, complimentary snacks and drinks, holiday music and more at the start/finish line celebration. Don’t forget to bring your kiddos for the free Kids’ Dash, taking place just before the race!
It wouldn’t be the Saints Santa Run without a costume contest! Dress up like Santa or in your most festive holiday costume for a chance to win cash prizes immediately following the race. Post your photo on Facebook or Instagram and tag @downtownokc with the hashtag #SaintsSantaRun for a chance to be included in the costume round-up.
WinterFest at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark
The WinterFest at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark is always an exciting event. Riding down the gigantic snow tubing slope is a thrill you won’t want to miss. From snow tubing to holiday movies on the video board, plus sparkling holiday lighting and décor, this will be a holiday highlight that your family will remember for years to come! There’s something for the whole family, so bring everyone along for a ride in the snow, hot chocolate and a snack, and a festive holiday atmosphere.
