Now that the season is changing and temperatures are cooling down, you may wonder: “Will I still get to enjoy my beloved summer hobbies of kayaking, rafting, and other RIVERSPORT adventures?”
Well, it seems others have asked the same question because throughout the month of October, RIVERSPORT OKC does not slow down in offering opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Over the next two Saturdays, there will be plenty of fun events to enjoy at RIVERSPORT for adventure-seekers, beer-drinkers, music-enthusiasts, dog-lovers, and cyclists alike!
On Saturday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the district will be hosting Oktoberfest, complete with German music, beer, and bratwurst. Surfing and skiing will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the RIVERSPORT Bike Park, Mountain Bike Trails, Velosolutions and Momentum Pump Tracks, Nature Trails and Basecamp Nature Center are open all day.
Dogs, kids, family and friends are all invited to the boathouse district for Oktoberfest. Play all day and stick around for the evening hours to enjoy the live oompah music with Bohemian Knights starting at 5 p.m.
If you’re still itching for more activity, on Oct. 16, head back out to RIVERSPORT for Spirit Spooktacular, Biketober, and Dogtober. Yes, you got it! The district will be hosting three events in one day! Talk about action.
Spirit Spooktacular is a Midwest Cheer and Dance championship event. All competing athletes will get an adventure pass to enjoy Surf OKC, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, the sky trail adventure course, sky slides, scooters, and the youth zone. Spectators of the event can purchase an Adventure Spectator Pass, which costs two dollars more than the standard spectator pass and includes all of the activities listed for the athletes. The event will also include a photo booth, moon bounce, and food trucks. Competition begins at 9 a.m. and adventures open at 10 a.m.
Biketober offers the community a BMX race, a bike repair clinic, and plenty of opportunities to go for rides—on your own bike or on a RIVERSPORT OKC bike rental. Admission to Biketober is free, so it’s a great opportunity to learn some skills and experience the sport.
Dogtober involves dog yoga, dog adoption, ask a vet, and ask the trainer activities. The day will highlight the new BarK dog park, which is set to open in 2022.
Now that your plans for the next couple of weekends have been made, why not fill your week days with networking opportunities with the OKC Chamber or in the Innovation District?
