One of the many benefits of living in Oklahoma City is the ability to enroll in EMSAcare through your city utility account. The service is an ambulance subscription program designed to cover the steep out-of-pocket costs, such as co-payments and deductibles, that Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance companies assign to their members.
If you or someone in your household is in an emergency situation, considering the cost of emergency transport should not be a priority. EMSAcare eliminates the financial burden of emergency transports and non-emergency ambulance transports approved by members’ insurance or Medicare providers.
For non-emergency transports that aren’t covered through insurance, EMSAcare provides a 40% cost-reduction, which can save hundreds of dollars because ambulance rides can cost upwards of $1,000, even with insurance.
The annual EMSAcare membership fee for Oklahoma City, Mustang, Edmond, Valley Brook, The Village, Arcadia, Nichols Hills, and Lake Alumna is $45.
Though enrollment is open year-round, it covers your household from the date you sign up until the next renewal period. For the Western Division (cities listed above), the renewal period is Sept. 1 through Sept. 30. If you want to get the most out of your membership, you should sign up or renew during the renewal dates.
