What would it look like to have all of Oklahoma City’s most brilliant minds in the same place? Eating, drinking, sharing ideas, creating, and ultimately, collaborating. That is the vision of the Oklahoma City Innovation District, and it is a vision being executed through interactive events, substantive programming and the facilitation of opportunities for innovators and entrepreneurs to thrive.
In a world where innovation rewards collaboration, the supporting programming and infrastructure must be ideal to spark ideas, nurture them and incubate them into companies that grow.
Currently, some of the ways the Innovation District is providing substantive programming are through its quarterly Student Showcase events and its Annual Symposium, which occurs on March 25 of this year and has a focus on Autonomous Systems. STEAM learning academies, work force development training, while more conferences focused on collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship are on the way, as well.
Alongside the Innovation District’s substantive programming lies its placemaking programming, with monthly happy hour events occurring virtually and soon in-person, and with Walk Over Wednesday food truck events happening in the spring, summer and fall months. Service opportunities also exist within the District community in partnership with RestoreOKC, with two workdays set for August and November of 2021.
The Innovation District’s core is located just east of Downtown. Beyond any geographic area, though, what exists is an entirely interactive and limitless innovation and technology ecosystem – an ecosystem that makes connections, grows ideas and companies, and moves Oklahoma City’s economy forward.
