Even during a pandemic, you face no dearth of opportunities to engage in a “Turkey Trot” race, aka some type of fun, easy road race generally run on Thanksgiving morning where many participants may don even goofier attire than the standard, plenty-goofy-by-itself running gear. These types of events are great ways to get your heart rate up and burn some calories so you have even more room for the good stuff (we’re looking at you, cranberry sauce and sweet potato casserole). Since this year is like no other, if you choose to participate in a race, it will likely be “virtual.” The good news? You can pick where you run. The bad news? You won’t have a designated course and the accompanying camaraderie. The other good news? You can run any time you feel like it! The other, other good news? The America’s Turkey Trot organization is benefiting a few local organizations.
So how does this work? Simply sign up via your preferred charity or organization (you may need to make sure you select them during registration) and they get a cut of the proceeds.
- OKC Turkey Tracks – benefiting Toys for Tots
- Uptown Fun(5)k – benefiting Uptown 23rd District
- OKC Zoo Monarch Madness 5k/Fun Run – benefiting OKC Zoo
What better way to prepare to stuff yourself with turkey and stuffing, and help out a local organization in the spirit of the holidays?
