The COVID-19 pandemic has roiled employment and workforce markets worldwide, and OKC is not an exception, unfortunately.
However, the good news is Oklahoma’s expansive CareerTech system is responding by providing skills training that can help those who have found themselves furloughed or laid off, in turn find a better job situation as economic activity and workforce needs shifts across sectors.
In fact, Oklahoma has 29 technology center districts operating on 58 campuses and 16 skill centers. A recent VeloCityOKC article provides a great rundown of some of the campuses and options in OKC, including Francis Tuttle Technology Center’s industrial maintenance, aircraft mechanical, food production courses and more; Meridian Technology Center’s wealth of manufacturing courses and certifications; and Gordon Cooper Technology Center and their QuickStart program that offers a variety of industrial certification options. Be sure to check it out as well as www.okcareertech.org for a complete list of programs and information. And be sure to pass this info along to anyone you know that may be looking for a way to boost their employability.
