As COVID-19 cases continue to rise around the state it is now more important than ever for us all to wear a mask when we are out and about. Step one of making sure we can watch Sooner and Cowboy football, Thunder basketball and enjoy live music again starts with you wearing your mask.
According to the Center for Disease Control, you should wear a cloth face cover in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. Wearing a mask helps keep you from spreading COVID-19 because many people are asymptomatic carriers. But the person you give it to without knowing may have a horrible reaction. And be sure the mask covers your nose.
If you live in or visit Norman, you are required to wear a mask when you’re out in town. The Norman City Council approved a mandate at its July 7 meeting.
There’s no mandate in Oklahoma City, just plenty of encouragement from Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt on social media.
The CDC also encourages people to wear cloth face coverings rather than medical-grade masks so critical medical and surgical masks are available for our frontline healthcare workers.
