While we know you were super motivated to workout while working from home, you might have lost that drive. Getting your steps in walking to the fridge doesn’t count as a workout. It might be time to get back to racing, virtually of course.
Our friends at Red Coyote Running are offering free virtual training programs to help you get ready to run or walk a 5K (3.1 miles) or a 10K (6.2 miles). You have to register to get on the list for the training schedules, so be sure to visit redcoyoterunning.com for more information.
OK Runner is hosting a “Flattening the Curve” race series. The last in the series is a half marathon on April 19 as a way to remember the Oklahoma City bombing victims, those who survived and those whose lives were changed forever. Oh and be sure to mark your calendar for the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, now being held on Oct. 4.
Coming up in May, there are two virtual races with fun medals and t-shirts to get you motivated. The Fiesta Frenzy is May 5 (Cinco De Mayo) and on May 10, you can challenge your mom or get your kids to join you in the Rockstar Run. (Since moms are rock stars, after all.)
To make sure you have a good finish time, try to race on a park trail or at the OKC River Trail. One of the biggest perks is you can run the race when you like to be outside, whether you’re more of a morning person or you like taking on the afternoon heat.
We know you’ll miss crossing the finish line and finally beating Karen, who’s been running next to you the entire race, but this is a safer way to take on a challenge. Yet, the biggest perk might be getting to use your own restroom.
