That’s right, it’s almost soccer time in OKC! The OKC Energy FC will take the field for their first home game of the season in historic Taft Stadium on Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m. as they host the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
A member of the exciting USL Championship league, the Energy look to improve on last year’s results (where they missed the playoffs by only eight points, but made it to the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup) with a number of new player signings and returning fan-favorite players as well as a new head coach in John Pascarella.
The USL Championship League is the only time OKC will take on Tulsa in a professional sports match. The teams play for the coveted wrench and the rivalry games have been known to get a little heated. Go ahead and mark your calendar for the first Tulsa game, which is May 12. We’ll definitely want you in the stands cheering on your new hometown.
Energy matches are a great evening out for the whole family to enjoy, whether or not you consider yourself much of a soccer fan or not (fair warning: by going to an Energy match, you soon will be). Fans of all ages don their green and come cheer on the city’s team. The team plays its home games at historic Taft Stadium, where the supporter groups are loud and colorful.
