If you’re not sure about all this river stuff or maybe the choices for where to begin are a bit overwhelming, a great way to experience the Oklahoma River and Boathouse District for the first time is by attending a regatta. And if that idea piques your interest at all, naturally (or else we wouldn’t be writing about it) you’re in luck – the 15th anniversary edition of the Oklahoma Regatta Festival is coming up Oct. 4-6.
This family-friendly event has something for everyone, including the OCU Head of the Oklahoma event, which features 4,000-meter head racing between teams from all over the U.S., including collegiate, masters and junior rowing squads, as well as the unique OGE Nightsprints—500-meter sprint racing under the lights (come out and cheer for Team Chamber on Friday)! Other items to enjoy include the OKC Thrive Outside Expo if you want to check out new outdoor gear and ways to enjoy it on Saturday, a RIVERSCREAM Zombie ZTag 2.0 preview if you feel like running and climbing away from people dressed up like zombies, food trucks if you feel like, well, eating from food trucks, fireworks, beer gardens and more. In addition, there will be special Day Pass pricing available if you want to experience the SkyTrail Adventure Course, Sky Slides, Rumble Drop, Stand-Up Paddle Boardking, Kayaking and more.
