Capitol Hill can be found south of downtown OKC and features a unique history. The area was started as its own city separate from Oklahoma City in 1905, but was eventually absorbed by OKC. The area saw a decline in the early ‘60s and ‘70s, but recently fortunes have begun to rebound. A business improvement district has been implemented and the area is now a center of Latino culture. From the venerable menu at Grill on the Hill to custom boots at El Texano to the upcoming renovation of the Yale Theater and more, Capitol Hill is on the way back.
On the fourth Friday of June, July, and August, get your fiesta on via the district’s Fiesta Friday block party, 7 – 10 p.m. on Harvey Avenue between Southwest 25th and Southwest 24th Streets. Experience a side of OKC you may not have known much about in Capitol Hill!
