This time of year shopping is on every one’s mind. The holidays, combined with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, are the busiest time of year for retailers nationwide. When shopping for those on your nice list, don’t forget your local stores. A great place to show your support is Small Business Saturday.
Why is shopping local so important? Besides supporting local entrepreneurs, more of the money you spend locally stays local. In a place like Oklahoma City, where sales tax is the primary source of revenue, it means funds crucial for services like fire and police. This year’s Small Business Saturday is this Saturday, Nov. 24.
P.S. If you get a free candy bar from a local business on Small Business Saturday be sure to open it. 500 of those bars will have a golden ticket that will get you on one of the very first rides of Oklahoma City’s new streetcar.
