You may know that deadCenter is an amazing film festival hosted right here in OKC, but did you also know that they have a program that allows high schoolers to get filmmaking experience? The program is called deadCenter U and every summer it accepts 60 high schoolers to meet filmmakers, learn how to use equipment, watch some fantastic indie movies, make a short film and more. Parts of the program have been taught by people who’ve worked on “Breaking Bad,” “The Godfather Part II,” “The Big Bang Theory” and, perhaps the most famous teacher to have ever worked with deadCenter U, “Children of the Corn” director Fritz Kiersch (who’s also a professor at OCU.) Applications for 2018 may be closed, but for any aspiring filmmakers in OKC, deadCenter U is 100 percent worth keeping an eye on!
