Oklahoma has undergone a recent renaissance of craft breweries finding their niche in OKC. This can be traced to a new wave of favorable legislation allowing breweries to sell their beer directly to customers at the breweries’ location, and an upcoming extension (October) of sale hours until 2 a.m. rather than closing at 9 p.m. Some of the nationally known local breweries include Coop Ale Works, Anthem Brewing Company, Black Mesa Brewing Company and Prairie Artisan Ales. Coop, Anthem, Prairie and Twisted Spike Brewery each have local taprooms located throughout OKC.
Oklahoma brewers have been working in unison to keep the momentum going in establishing The Brewers Union taproom in west OKC, where you can sample a wide variety of the beers brewed at the facility. Among the up-and-coming brewers associated in the Union’s taproom are Elk Valley Brewing, Vanessa House Beer Co. and Angry Scotsman Brewing, all three of which have their own future local taprooms “on tap” and in development.
Further options of both widely popular local and national brews in OKC can be experienced at Bricktown Brewery, Belle Isle Restaurant & Brewery, McNellie’s Pub House, Fassler Hall, TapWerks and others.
