Henry David Thoreau once said, “This world is but a canvas to our imagination.” For the past 50 years, the Festival of the Arts has brought imagination to our own backyard as one of the largest and most successful arts festivals in the country. With hundreds of world-renowned artists from across the country, the Festival of the Arts is a must see event bringing imagination to life.
Here are just a few things you should know about the Festival of the Arts:
- You have six days to enjoy the fun as the festival is April 25-30 at Bicentennial Park, situated between the Civic Center Music Hall and City Hall. Admission is free and hands-on activities in the Children’s Art Field is just $2.
- More than 450 artists applied and submitted work for the Festival jury process. The 144 chosen artists are some of the nation’s finest, featuring a wide array of art from oils, water, drawing and printmaking to photography, ceramics, glass, sculpture and more.
- At the Festival of the Arts, art isn’t just what you look at, it’s what you eat too. From appetizers to desserts, the Festival brings 31 vendors to the International Food Row and throughout the grounds. Each food vendor is partnered with a local arts organization, so each bite you take supports the arts in central Oklahoma.
- Art is also a performance. Nearly 300 entertainers will be donating their performances on three stages throughout the Festival to the 750,000 Festival attendees.
Whether you’re imagining buying a painting that you love, jamming out at a free concert or eating a piece of art you enjoy, the Festival of the Arts will bring your imagination, and your taste buds, to life.
