Some of the best riversport athletes in the world will be in Oklahoma City on Sept. 29 – Oct. 2 as the Oklahoma Regatta Festival takes over the Oklahoma River. For four days, 2,500 athletes will compete in rowing, kayaking, dragon boating and whitewater rafting during the Oklahoma City University Head of the Oklahoma Race and the OGE NightSprints.
The OCU Head of the Oklahoma races will include 2.5 mile races against the clock each day where participants compete for the best time. The 500-meter night sprints Saturday evening will surely be a sight not to miss. Events are held in different categories including collegiate, masters and junior rowing as well as kayak and dragon boat racing.
But the fun isn’t just limited to participants. In addition to the racing, the Oklahoma Regatta Festival will include a family festival with food trucks and beer gardens – all with a first-rate view of the racing and the traditional post-race fireworks.
