Summer is the perfect time to get outside and explore your new hometown, and Oklahoma City’s extensive network of trails will help you do just that. Through MAPS 3, Oklahoma City’s current capital improvements program, the community will have invested more than $39 million in its trails by the end of 2017. MAPS 3-funded trails include the West River Trail, which opened in 2015. This outdoor trail, stretching 7.5 miles from Lake Overholser to the Oklahoma River Trail, provides residents a place to be outdoors and engage in bettering their health. With a scenic view winding through the trees along the river, the West River Trail offers you a little getaway the next time you are looking to get out and about.
Other MAPS 3-funded trails include the Will Rogers Trail (which will connect Lake Hefner to the Oklahoma River trails) and Lake Draper Trail. Both are scheduled to be complete by the end of next year.
