The chill is definitely in the air in Oklahoma City and that means fall is in full swing. However, don’t act like a bear and disappear until the thaw of spring. There is still boatloads of fun to be had in OKC when the temperature drops, including the yearly Devon Ice Rink at the Myriad Botanical Gardens. The opening of the Devon Ice Rink is the unofficial launch of the colder seasons for locals.
Open until Feb. 1, the Devon Ice Rink gives you a chance to channel your inner Bonnie Blair or Brian Boitano in Downtown OKC. On weekdays the rink opens at 3 p.m., and runs until 9 p.m. During the weekends, the rink opens at 11 a.m., and closes at 11 p.m. (if you want to get wild).
Really want to get your figure skate on? Each Friday night is Rock N Skate night. From 6 to 9 p.m., a DJ will provide the soundtrack and all you have to provide are the moves (and a small entry fee).
Garden members skate for just $7, while nonmembers pay $12, including skate rental. Own your own blades? First off, that is awesome, and you only have to pay $8. Food and drink will also be available both indoors and outdoors.
So work on your axel jumps and free dances and we will see you on the ice.
