If you’ve read our blog, you are well aware that Oklahoma City has deep ties to our armed services. The region has a long and proud tradition of supporting Tinker Air Force Base in a myriad of ways. Along with Tinker, Oklahoma is also home to the 45th Infantry Division, who served valiantly in World War II, and the state has ties to the attack at Pearl Harbor. As we celebrate Veterans Day, a day set aside to honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, we thought we would look at the ties that bind OKC and our military together.
As we mentioned, one of the driving forces between our region and the armed forces is Tinker Air Force Base. The base is one of the largest Air Force bases in the country, and provides critical support for our military personnel. The base is also a huge economic driver for our city, as it is the state’s largest single-site employer. You can read more about Tinker’s importance and history in our recent blog post.
