When the cold winds are a’howling, we have a place downtown where you can not only escape the chill, but you can also acquaint yourself with one of the more unique aspects of downtown Oklahoma City. The pedestrian tunnels and skyways of The Underground, formerly known as the Conncourse (named for late civic leader Jack Conn), link 16 blocks and more than 30 buildings. Opened in 1974, the three-quarter-mile system is a welcome way to get around during times of extreme weather – or rack up some steps on your pedometer over lunch. Grab a map and check it out.
