In what very well may be the latest sign of the end of the world as we know it, the sock craze is officially upon us here in OKC. Stripes, dots, patterns, and golfer-chic argyle is where it’s at—and hey, the flashier the better, amiright? But maybe you’ve been waiting for just the right time to beef up your sock stock. Well, look no further than the Oklahoma Sales Tax Holiday, heading our way August 2-4. It can potentially knock your old socks right off your feet (as well as whatever else you happen to be wearing). Yep, that’s right – any item of clothing or pair of shoes up to $100 intended to be worn daily, including even the most awe-inspiring, epilepsy-inducing, ridiculous-looking pair of socks, is exempt from sales tax. (Some items designed primarily for athletic activity and others are excepted. For example, if the costume mask craze hits us next year, you’ll be sadly (thankfully?) out of luck.) Give the inside of your boots as well as your pocketbook a little break, and get your back-to-school wardrobe ready from bottom to top.
