Let the good times ROAR! The Oklahoma City Zoo & Botanical Garden is home to more than 2,000 animals, including 50 endangered or threatened species. Oh, and it’s where you’ll find Malee, the first ever baby elephant born at the Oklahoma City Zoo. Born in August 2011, she’s not the wee thing she was at birth (by wee, we mean 300 pounds), but even at more than 700 pounds, her cuteness hasn’t waned.
At the Zoo, you can discover the state-of-the-art Elephant Habitat Malee calls home, as well as the Great EscApe, Cat Forest and Lion Overlook, and the Children’s Zoo. What’s not to love? And to further entice you to visit (maybe for the second, third, fourth, umpteenth time), the Zoo is offering free admission every Monday through Feb. 25, 2013. If Mondays don’t work for you, the zoo is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You should also check out ... Science Museum Oklahoma, which just happens to be right next door to the Zoo! It’s the place for hands-on, science-related family fun with activities and exhibits focused on aviation, space and so much more. Their calendar for 2013 is jam-packed with great events and activities for kids of all ages.
