Much like the Oklahoma River itself, the Oklahoma Regatta Festival has progressed from relatively humble beginnings in 2004 to a fun, free, family-friendly, full-on four-day flabbergasting function featuring fantastic fast-floating finishers for 50,000 folks. Phew!
Anyway, this year's festival runs from Thursday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Sept. 30 and is sure to be a great time for everyone. College, masters and corporate rowers, kayakers, dragon boat racers, runners and even stand-up paddle boarders will all be racing their oars off while live music, a children's area, food from some of OKC's best restaurants, and a wine garden rages. Thursday and Friday will feature racing under the lights at the ever-popular OGE NightSprints, one of the most unique events in the world of paddle sports. Saturday's docket includes the first of two days of Head of the Oklahoma racing, the Olympic & Paralympic Experience, the Regatta Run, and the blu VIP Party. Sunday concludes the Regatta with—you guessed it—racing, racing, racing! What's that, you say? You haven't been out to the river before? Well come on out and see what all the fuss is about, in this fun-filled, fantabulous, first-class, free… OK, OK. We'll see you there.
