Did you know that if you walk (or jog, skip, run, hop) around the perimeter of the Myriad Gardens 1.5 times that you've gone a mile? Working on your fitness has never been so easy! Join Oklahoma City Mayor and other OKC'ers for the kickoff of Walking Wednesdays at the Myriad Gardens Great Lawn and Band Pavilion at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12. If you're one of the first 50 people to show up, you'll get a free pedometer so you can track all those steps you take each day. Mayor Cornett will be joined by some other fitness enthusiasts, including fitness guru and trainer Brian Attebery, Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton, Miss Oklahoma's Outstanding Teen Julianne Thomison and others. Then, make sure you come back each Wednesday (or any day) to walk at least a mile at the Gardens and get and stay fit with your fellow OKC'ers.
The fitness fun at the Gardens doesn't stop there. Starting Saturday, Sept. 15 and continuing for three weeks (Sat., Sept. 22 and Sat. Sept. 29) you'll have the opportunity to participate in Yoga on the Great Lawn (8 to 9 a.m.) and Zumba on the Great Lawn (9 to 10 a.m.). The best part? It's free!
