If you've been hanging around this little blog long enough, you might have seen us mention a local organization called the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. We're pretty keen on this group and their work to battle hunger in our state. Did you know they feed more than 90,000 Oklahomans each week? And unfortunately, more than one-third of these hungry Oklahomans are children. To help with this need, three generous donors – Top of the World, Trusted Choice-Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma and one anonymous family donor – are offering to match every dollar given specifically to the Food for Kids program.
This program provides chronically hungry elementary school children with backpacks of non-perishable, kid-friendly food to eat over weekends and holidays when school meal programs aren't available.
From now until September 30, any gift you give toward this program will be matched dollar-for-dollar to help feed hungry children. A gift of $200 can provide a backpack or a school pantry full of food every weekend for an entire school year for one child! And thanks to the generous donors we mentioned earlier, now it will feed two children!
